Welcome to the second half of the semester. We hope you had a great Spring Break whether you were off or catching up while the campus was quieter. Take a minute to see what’s going on this week in the Division of Student Affairs.
1) Internship Fair – This Wednesday, March 23; 11 am – 2 pm is our INTERNSHIP FAIR we are hosting with SAC in the Plaster Student Union atrium (2nd floor). The internship fair includes eleven employers along with the Career Center table (near Bear Necessities convenience store). Please share this with the students you work with.
2) You Can Help a Student – Attend this training to find out how you can support students struggling with mental health concerns. This 120 minute session uses interactions and conversations to teach audience members actionable ways they can help students in distress. You can register for a session through My Learning Connection in your My Missouri State. This training is open to all Missouri State faculty and staff. Upcoming session dates are:
Monday, April 4th – 8:30-10:30 in person
Monday, April 25th – 9am-11am in person
Thursday, May 19th – 8:30am-10:30am in person
3) Missouri State’s Birthday Party – Missouri State celebrated its 117th birthday on March 17th but the party is taking place this Thursday, March 24th. There will be activities in the PSU from 10am-2pm on Thursday. https://www.missouristate.edu/birthdaybears/
4) Staff Senate Nominations – Staff Senate is now accepting nominations for terms beginning July 2022. Those elected will have the chance to serve Missouri State University while representing their specific Job Family for a three-year term. In addition, this is your opportunity to assist in advocating for continuous personal and professional development improvements by initiating or assisting in programs and changes that benefit staff. 5) A Conversation with Dee – The Division of Student Affairs is an inclusive unit of many different personalities and ideas. From seasoned professionals to those new to the field, conversations and the sharing of these ideas is an excellent way for the division to remain champions for student success. 6) Donate Goodies to the Student Employee of the Year Celebration – Student Employment Services is recognizing Student Employee of the Year nominees at a reception on Wednesday, April 13th. We would like to invite you to donate to this important recognition to show students that they are appreciated by MSU! Donations can be made in the form of material items, swag, or gift cards/certificates. Donating departments will be acknowledged on social media and at the reception. We welcome your donation on any level, whether it be for the 27 award nominees, winner of the annual MSU Student Employee of the Year award, or a contribution to the entire event. 7) Spring Family Day at Hammons Field – Spring Family Day at Hammons Field is taking place Saturday, March 26th. The gates open at 1pm and the game starts at 2pm. Members of the Family Programs office will handing out popcorn from 1-2pm. Tickets are available at the ticket window at Hammons Field.

Bonus: Bear a Friend – Send a Sleuth (a group of bears) to a co-worker, friend, professor here at Missouri State. You can send a bunch of bears for a one-time suggested donation of $5.00. The collected funds will go to the Student Emergency Fund. How does it work? Complete the form below and under the cover of darkness (or whenever their office is empty), your friends space will come alive with bears! The bears will be collected from the office two days after the bearing has taken place. Make a friend/co-worker feel special and have some fun!
