Five Things – This Week in Student Affairs – April 25th

Take a moment to see what’s happening this week in the Division of Student Affairs.

1. Multicultural Services Announces New Director of Multicultural Programs – The Multicultural Services cluster of the Division of Student Affairs is delighted to announce the selection of our  Multicultural Programs Director, Dr. Nina Barudzicnew Multicultural Programs Director, Dr. Nina Barudzic. Dr. Barudzic will come to us after recent completion of her doctoral studies in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Bowling Green State University. She is extremely passionate about diversity, creating inclusive and equitable spaces and advocating for marginalized students. For the past four years Dr. Barudzic has been working in Multicultural Affairs and has expressed her excitement for becoming a Bear! She tells me that she enjoys “teaching and working on challenging projects that push the needle for students’ success.” When Dr. Barudzic has free time, she plays tennis and enjoys time with her family and friends. Dr. Barudzic will join our Multicultural Services team on June 27th.

2. Conversations with the College – Dr. Dee Siscoe – Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 28, 2022 at noon and join Dr. Dee Siscoe, Vice President for Student Affairs, for the next session of “Conversations with the College” with host, Greg Fansler, Executive Director of Engagement and Alumni Relations. Conversations with the College is a webinar series created for alumni and friends to hear directly from the department or college about current goals, unique challenges and opportunities. 3. Annual Campus-wide Memorial Service – The annual campus-wide Memorial Service to honor the memories of those we have lost this past year will be held on Thursday, April 28th, 4-5pm in the Union Club in the Plaster Student Union. We will be honoring current students, faculty and staff during this service. The service is open to all. If you have questions, contact Priscilla Childress or Debbie Letterman.

4. Spring Town Hall – Join the University for a Spring Town Hall, which will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion on Wednesday, April 27th, 3:30-5pm, Plaster Student Union Theatre. https://calendar.missouristate.edu/event/115821/220593

5. Spring 2022 Missouri State SAHE Assessment Symposium – The Student Affairs in Higher Education Graduate Program in partnership with the Division of Student Affairs invites you to the Spring 2022 Missouri State SAHE Assessment Symposium, April 27, 8am-12pm, Plaster Student Union, 3rd floor. Special guests speakers are Dr. Frank Einhelling and Dr. Keri Franklin.

6. Celebrate the end of the Semester with the Division of Student Affairs – Join us as we celebrate the end of the semester on Friday, April 29th, 3-4pm, PSU 308 with cookie decorating and great conversation! Thanks to Chartwells for providing the cookies and drinks for our event! Stay tuned for more information!

7. Student Showcase – The Office of Admissions is hosting a Student Showcase on Saturday, April 30th for prospective students and their family members. There are many events for the participants to take part in while they are on campus. These include: meeting with faculty; learning about the admission process and financial aid; taking campus tours; visiting with current students and the Student Life Expo! If you are on campus, make a point to say hello and welcome our visitors to our beautiful campus!
