Take a moment to see what’s going on this week in the Division of Student Affairs.
1. Nominate a Student for the Citizen Scholar Award – The Citizen Scholar Award was initiated in 2007 as a special Board of Governors program to recognize outstanding citizen scholars at Missouri State University. Eighty-three (83) students since 2007 have been recognized for their stellar achievements with academics, community engagement and leadership. Citizen Scholar nominations may be made by Missouri State University faculty and staff members each fall.
The nominations for the 2022-2023 Citizen Scholar Award have opened. The deadline for nominations is September 13th at 5pm. Find out more about the nomination process here: https://studentaffairs.missouristate.edu/citizenscholaraward.htm
2. Division of Student Affairs Welcome Back Lunch – The yearly Welcome Back lunch will take place on September 16th in Ballroom east from 12:00-1:30. Lunch (Fajita Bar) is $5.00 with required coupon. You will receive the coupon in your Missouri State email this week.
3. Join a Student Affairs Committee – Within the Division of Student Affairs, there are various opportunities for staff to get involved, and one of these are our committees and teams. These committees and teams offer you an opportunity to help strengthen collaboration and cooperation amongst the departments in the division. Staff is encouraged to participate in one or more of these committees.
The committees are:

4. Become a Mental Health Ambassador – The MSU Counseling Center needs your help. They are in the process of building a Peer Support Program on our campus, and they need help identifying students passionate about helping others, as well as promoting mental health awareness, who can fill the role of Mental Health Ambassadors.
Here is the role description for our “Mental Health Ambassadors”:
– 4 to 10 hours per week availability required based on students’ availability.
– attend campus events to represent the MSU Counseling Center.
– provide programming to share information about the MSU Counseling Center, as well as Mental Health Awareness.
– be present in designated spaces where MSU students can stop by to ask questions about the MSU Counseling Center services and resources.
– provide support to MSU students in face-to-face setting.
5. MSU celebrates Latino/a/x Heritage Month – The office of multicultural programs at Missouri State University will host several events in honor of Latino/a/x Heritage Month.
