Welcome Back! Classes are back in session, and the campus is alive again with the hustle and bustle of our new and returning students! It’s an exciting time! Take a moment to see what’s happening this week in the Division of Student Affairs!
1. You’re Invited! MSU Multicultural Networking Reception – The Missouri State University Multicultural Services, Division of Student Affairs is delighted to host their annual networking event again this fall on Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom. This is the sixth annual event where diverse students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community come together to connect, share information and network with one another. 2. “Lunch and Learns” – We have set up “Lunch and Learns” that are optional for participation yet we hope you will consider participating, if applicable. Please email Peggy Jones at peggyjones@missouristate.edu to sign-up to ensure we will have enough seats and snacks.

3. Fall DOSA All-Staff Meeting – Mark your calendar for the Fall DOSA All-Staff Meeting, September 13th, 8am in the PSU Theatre. The agenda will include a staff photo, the DOSA Awards, sharing of important information, and breakout meetings for our student affairs committees. 4. The Division of Student Affairs Student Advisory Board – The Division of Student Affairs Student Advisory Board exists to provide open dialogue and discussion between Missouri State University students and the Vice President for Student Affairs. This student board, open to both graduate and undergraduate students, has been charged with providing deliberate input to the Vice President regarding out-of-classroom experiences and student life. A great opportunity for our students! The application for the 2023-2024 Board has opened. 5. The Counseling Center is recruiting Mental Health Ambassadors – The Counseling Center is requesting your help in referring students you feel may be a great asset to our program OR by posting the attached flyer in your office/nearby bulletin boards for students to see. The deadline to apply is September 1st and selected individuals will be called for a follow up interview which will be held on September 8th. A Mental Health Ambassador provides education on mental health topics across campus and they are trained to engage in peer counseling with Missouri State University students. Training and supervision provided by Counseling Center staff members. This is a great opportunity for any student who is passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health care and wants to learn how to support their peers more effectively!
