Take a moment to see what’s going on this week in the Division of Student Affairs.
1. First Gen Student Celebration Days – First-Generation Student Celebration Days will be Mon. Nov. 6-Wed. Nov. 8. We’ll be spotlighting student success stories as well as tips from faculty/staff through social media. MSU I’m First and the Center for Academic Success and Transition will be hosting events including a first-generation student panel and peer mentor tips for successful networking workshop. 2. Open Enrollment Period – Open enrollment is the annual period during which you can elect/decline/or make changes to your medical, dental, vision, and cafeteria/flexible spending plans for the upcoming calendar year. Cafeteria plan/Flexible spending plan elections must be elected annually. Additionally, voluntary benefit carriers may provide guarantee issue during this period as well (determined yearly by the carrier). Open enrollment for the 2024 benefits plan year will run from Nov. 1, 2023 through Dec. 1, 2023. missouristate.edu/Human/open-enrollment.htm

3. Required Cybersecurity Awareness Training – As a reminder, employees are required to take the Cybersecurity Awareness Training. The training is intended to make you aware of the cybersecurity threats targeting Missouri State and to provide you with the tools you’ll need to avoid those threats. A list of resources and contacts are available to you for assistance at http://cio.missouristate.edu/iso. Please complete all three (3) video training modules provided in the course. The course is about 18 minutes in length.

Choose the Learning and Development Card.
Click on My Learning Connection.
Search for Cybersecurity Awareness Training.
Complete the training as noted above.
4. Flu Shots and COVID Boosters – Magers Health and Wellness Center is offering flu shots and COVID Boosters now. Please schedule an appointment through MyHealth Portal. When scheduling a vaccines please choose the option in the reservation time designated for the specific vaccine. Please check in at the front desk or the vaccination check in table before receiving your vaccination. There is no cost for students. Those on MSU’s insurance will not have any out of pocket expenses. Retirees on Medicare will need to check if Magers Health and Wellness Center is in network. Other individuals may incur a charge. Contact Magers Health at 417-836-4000 with questions.
5. Collaboration between university faculty and students marks Native and Indigenous Heritage Month – Immerse yourself in indigenous culture through educational and social events at Missouri State University during Native and Indigenous Heritage Month. The events will run Nov. 4-29 and will help our campus and the public gain a better understanding of native and indigenous history, traditions and customs. “During Native and Indigenous Heritage Month, we’re honoring our first Nation’s people and taking pride in all our collaborative efforts to support truth, visibility and justice for Native individuals,” said Nina Barudzic, MSU director of multicultural programs. 6. Inclusion Awareness Spotlight: SAC & the MRC host Native American Indigenous People’s Month Speaker next Tuesday, November 14th, from 7-8pm in the PSU Theater. Check out who the speaker will be @mostatesac on Instagram. There will be free food for all and a prize drawing for students.
