1. Please outline the organizational make-up of your department. The department is made up of Mary Ann Wood, Director and Stacey Trewatha-Bach, Coordinator of Public Affairs Special Projects
2. Briefly describe the top three functions of your department.
a. Develop and present the annual Public Affairs theme and the Public Affairs Conference as well as other Public Affairs themed events.
b, Manage Public Affairs award programs for staff and faculty (Excellence in Community Engagement Awards and Board of Governors Excellence in Public Affairs Awards).
c. Serve as American Democracy Project (ADP) coordinating office on campus and promote voter education and registration on campus with cooperation from student group, Paws to the Polls.
3. What is one thing that you want the campus community to know about your department and why? One of the goals of our office is to remain neutral, non-partisan, so that all groups feel comfortable working with us and to represent the university through excellence in our programming.
4. What are ways others can collaborate with your department? One way others can collaborate with the office is to help promote and/or co-sponsor events with us to reach a larger audience.
5. How is your department Champions for Student Success? Our main focus is to help our students, faculty, staff and community to understand the Public Affairs mission and how it impacts all of us in our professional and personal lives. That by living the public affairs mission we become better people and help make our communities better places to live. Our office strives to help students learn how to apply the public affairs mission to their lives. By feeling a part of ones community and the university, students will tend to stay more engaged in their education and move forward to degree completion.
