The Career Center is a dynamic hub for career exploration and professional development. We are here to guide students in choosing a major, building essential career skills, and connecting with employers and opportunities that align with their aspirations.
Who We Are
Our team is comprised of 10 full-time staff members, 2 part-time staff, 4 graduate assistants, and 8 undergraduate student workers. Together, we are dedicated to helping students define and achieve their career goals.
What We Do
Our primary functions are to:
- Guide students in choosing a major and career path.
- Prepare students with the tools they need to succeed—resumes, LinkedIn profiles, interview skills, and job search strategies.
- Connect students with employers, industry experts, and real-world opportunities.
It’s never too early to visit the Career Center! Whether you’re a freshman or a senior, career planning and preparation can make a big difference in your success after college.
Our Mission
We are champions for student success, helping students turn their educational aspirations into meaningful career achievements. We’re here to ensure that your college journey doesn’t end with graduation but launches you toward a fulfilling career.
Collaboration Opportunities
We welcome collaboration with other campus departments and community partners. Request a presentation from one of our staff members, or reach out to explore programming opportunities that can support student career development.
Championing Student Success
We believe student success is about more than just academics; it’s about achieving the career goals set when coming to college. We’re here to ensure students get the most out of their degrees by aligning their studies with their career paths.
Recent Achievements
This year, we launched the Professional Headshot Photo Booth, a free resource for students sponsored by Enterprise Mobility, located in the MSU Bookstore. This addition allows students to get quality headshots to enhance their professional profiles.
Our Goals for the Upcoming Year
Our priority is to reach more students by scaling our services through technology. Tools like Big Interview and Handshake, alongside our upcoming Career Guide, will help students navigate their career journeys effectively.
Get Involved!
Students can join us for drop-in resume reviews every weekday from 1:00-5:00 PM. We also host multiple career fairs and events throughout the year. We’re always looking for dedicated Student Career Ambassadors who help with resume reviews and promote the Career Center’s resources.
