Orientation and Transition Programs helps incoming students and their families successfully start their journey at Missouri State. We’re here to help you make your Missouri Statement.
Who We Are
The Orientation and Transition Programs team at Missouri State University consists of a Full-Time Coordinator, 3 Student Orientation Assistants, a Student Leadership Assistant, a Student Family Assistant, 1 Graduate Assistant, and 42 Student Orientation Leaders who work during the summer. Together, this team is dedicated to ensuring a seamless transition for new students and their families.
What We Do
Our department plays a vital role in introducing students and their families to the Missouri State community. We guide students through the advising and registration process for their classes and facilitate their first-time registration experience. Additionally, we educate students about the various resources available to help them succeed at Missouri State.
We Want You to Know
Orientation & Transition Programs is committed to facilitating the transition and engagement of new students into Missouri State University’s academic, cultural, and social environments. We partner with families and support networks to ensure every new Bear has a smooth and welcoming start to their journey.
Ways to Collaborate
Provide resources for family members and students to have in their SOAR folders. Take part in the Campus Expo. Provide materials for the students such as bags and pens for them to use during their SOAR experience.
Championing Student Success
Orientation & Transition Programs seeks to create a student body that is uniformly engaged in lifelong learning, committed to exemplifying the values of Missouri State’s public affairs mission, and passionate in exhibiting their Bear pride.
Recent Achievements
We are proud to share some recent milestones. We hosted an engaging SOAR experience for 2,391 students, successfully hired five new Student Orientation Assistants, and welcomed 252 students to the Ursa Experience, a program designed to create strong connections and lasting memories.
Goals for the Upcoming Year
Increase funds raised for the Ursa Experience. Increase the number of students that attend Ursa. Provide more engagement activities for the students attending SOAR.
Stay Connected
Students have plenty of opportunities to get involved with our department. They can apply to become a SOAR Leader or an Ursa Major to contribute to the vibrant Missouri State community.
