Who We Are

Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services is a department made up of over 120 staff members working across three key areas: Business Services, Facilities and Operations, and Education and Development. We work in tandem with the Chartwells team to provide healthy and delicious meals in our dining centers. In each area, Residence Life employs full-time staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student workers.

What We Do

Residence Life, Housing and Dining Services fulfills several essential functions at Missouri State University:

• Business Services oversees several processes such as email and phone communication, housing applications, housing assignments, and business operations.
• Facilities and Operations is responsible for the maintenance, custodial upkeep, and renovations for our residential buildings on campus.
• Education and Development staff supervise the full-time and graduate-level staff within our residence halls as well as advise our Residence Life student organizations.

Residence Life has collected more than 25 years of consistent data indicating that students who live on campus have higher grade point averages compared to their peers.

Recent Achievements

• In October 2024, professional staff hosted the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International conference for the Upper Midwest Region.
• Residence Life’s student leaders continue to be recognized for their excellent work and vibrant community-building.
• The Residence Hall Association and Chartwells’ collaborative event for Ramadan 2024 was selected as the National Association of College and University Residence Halls’ Program of the Year!
• Missouri State University was selected to host the 2026 Regional Business Conference for the Midwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls.

For the upcoming year, we are committed to creating communities with a sense of belonging. Our priority will continue to be fostering student success by providing comfortable and convenient housing, as well as a variety of healthy dining options.

Get Involved

All on-campus students are already members of the Residence Hall Association (RHA)! RHA represents the voice of all on-campus students by recommending policies and procedures, attending leadership conferences, and creating fun events for their community.
