3. REMINDER: Join EAB’s Voice Sessions for Staff Career Well-being – Your Input Matters! Just a Few Spots Remaining– After several years of change in our industry and institution, we want to pause to focus on whether and how you are flourishing in your career. I’m excited to introduce a valuable resource called EAB Voice Sessions (EVS), provided by our strategic partner for institutional success, EAB. This tool will help us understand your perspective and prioritize solutions to benefit our student affairs team. Many of you participated in the EAB Voices project last year so you know that it is an anonymous assessment of staff morale.  Registration and Logistics: EVS is an anonymous, interactive, 75-minute session facilitated by an EAB expert that combines focus group and survey methodologies. All responses are completely anonymous, and EAB will only report aggregate results. EAB cannot identify participants, nor disclose individual responses. To register for EVS, use this link. Please be aware that the session will be conducted over audio in English. We are offering one session on October 30, from 10:00 – 11:15am CT.

Guidelines for participation:

  1. Please follow the log-in instructions provided in your registration confirmation email. You can save the event details to your calendar during the registration process.
  2. On the day of the session, simply click on the link provided in your registration confirmation email or calendar invite.
  3. Make sure to have your laptop ready for the session. You will need functioning speakers or headphones to listen to the facilitator, but you will not need a microphone.
  4. Please use either Chrome or Safari web browsers during EVS.

 Confidentiality:
Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us and to our partner, EAB, who is fully committed to protecting the confidentiality of all EVS participants. To that end, EAB reserves the right to edit or withhold any qualitative or quantitative data from the sessions that may compromise participant confidentiality, in accordance with applicable law.

EAB will provide me with an anonymized report that shares key themes that emerged from these conversations in about 6 weeks. After that, we will share those key themes with you along with the action steps we plan to take to enhance staff career well-being at Missouri State University. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dee Siscoe. Thank you for your valuable participation.

4. Join Chartwells for a Spooky Halloween Lunch – On October 31st, Chartwells invites you to a delightfully fun Halloween Luncheon in the PSU Ballroom from 11am -1pm. Lot’s of delicious food and Halloween Desserts will be served.  We will take pictures of everyone wearing a costume as they come in the door and judges will pick a winner at the end of the lunch. There will be a cake walk competition every 30 minutes, and winners will receive a  decorated cake for Halloween. Reservations are not required, but they do help determine how much food to prepare so they are always appreciated.

10. Annual Learning Domain Assessments – Boo, Student Affairs Friends! As the ghosts and ghouls come out to play, don’t let your annual learning domain assessments haunt you later!
This year’s focus is on Cultural Competence, and we’re conjuring up ways to capture how students are growing in their ability to:
Demonstrate respect and appreciation for others
Foster civil discourse, awareness, and action within the MSU and surrounding communities
Support a culture of connection by creating welcoming environments for students from all backgrounds
As you carve pumpkins and sip cider, be sure to also carve out time to start brainstorming and gathering your assessment ideas. Your projects help us understand how students are learning to build a more inclusive and connected campus.
So, dust off your spell books (or… your assessment plans), and get ready to brew up some wickedly good data.
Don’t ghost us—start planning today!
Happy Haunting,
The DOSA Planning and Assessment Team
