4. Sign up for Bear Crew and House Calls – It’s never too early to volunteer to take part in Bear Crew and House Calls. Become a member of the Bear Crew and welcome incoming students and their families to campus by helping them move into their residence hall rooms. We are looking for volunteers from our current student body, faculty, and staff to help with Missouri State move-in on August 13-15, 2026.

House Calls 2026 will take place Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 5:15pm to approximately 8pm. The House Calls program is designed to reach out to residence hall students and give them an opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, and administrators on a more personal level. By visiting individual rooms in the residence halls, volunteers can welcome students, help determine if they need any assistance, and answer any questions they might have.

5. Delivering a Performance Review: A Guide for Managers – Performance reviews are more than an annual requirement—they are one of the most impactful opportunities supervisors have to connect with their employees, reinforce expectations, and support ongoing development. To support our supervisors in this critical responsibility, HR has launched a new self-directed learning path in My Learning Connection: Delivering a Performance Review: A Guide for Managers.

This learning path is powered by LinkedIn Learning and is designed specifically to help supervisors navigate the full performance review process—from preparation to follow-up—with confidence and clarity.

Through a curated series of short, expert-led modules, participants will explore practical strategies to:

  • Prepare for meaningful one-on-one performance conversations
  • Deliver balanced, constructive feedback
  • Navigate challenging or emotional responses
  • Apply coaching techniques to support employee growth
  • Set clear, actionable goals and build accountability within their teams

To learn more about this new resource, visit the HR Performance website.

6. Learn about updated social media accessibility requirements – New ADA Title II changes will take effect April 24. Starting April 24, updated digital accessibility requirements under the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II took full effect for most public higher education institutions. At Missouri State University, this means all university-affiliated social media accounts are expected to meet these standards moving forward.

If you have questions or need guidance, contact social media coordinator Adair Seifert.
