Since 1977 Golden Key International Honour Society has accumulated over 2 million members worldwide, making the Honour Society the largest in the world. Members are recruited from the top 15% academically in the sophomore, junior, and senior classes or from graduate students who hold a 3.7 or higher grade point average. Golden Key strives to exemplify three main components: Academics, Leadership, and Service. Beyond the great experiences that the ambitious Golden Key members can share for a lifetime, there are over 1 million dollars in scholarships awarded annually and excusive opportunities and savings.
With approximately 200 members on the Missouri State University campus, the local chapter has taken on many philanthropies within just the past few years such as Convoy of Hope, Harmony House, Robberson Elementary Make-A-Difference Day, and creating communication boards for children in Nicaragua. To develop professionally, special speakers have been brought in for the benefit of the entire campus including Rance Loftgard, who has been awarded for his entrepreneurial endeavors that not only make a profit, but also provide benefits for people who live in unfortunate circumstances. Other speakers include financial, dietary, graduate school and work-place specialists.
Golden Key International Honour Society as a whole has performed remarkable feats time and time again, and while the local chapter has worked hard to emulate the organization as a while, leaders on campus take pride in considering member feedback and creating events that specifically target this feedback. Next on the schedule, Golden Key will be assisting the College of Health and Human Services with their Transdisciplinary Healthcare Forum on November 3rd, then officially recognizing new members November 23rd at the New Member Recognition Event.
