I have been having so much fun and such a good time that I have forgotten to post this whole trip (no, it’s not because I am resistant to social media). So what to talk about … the Saigon Tech students think I look like Gru from Despicable Me, so now they call me Dr. Gru. They found out I like Chelsea football club so they bought me a key chain.
Getting to go to the center of the country and see a more rural, historical part of Vietnam was very interesting. I especially thought Hue was cool, getting to see the old capital and all the kings that ruled over Vietnam before the French arrived and during their influence/occupation. It was really interesting to learn that Courtney has a direct bloodline to the longest reigning king in Vietnamese history, Tu Duc. In the past I have learned a lot about the Vietnam War (they call it the American War here), the business and culture of Vietnam, but it was really cool to get deeper into the history.
On another note, maybe I’m just getting used to Springfield and 9 month winters and snow in May, but it seems to be waaay hotter here than past.
I can’t believe it’s almost over. On Saturday, most people go home, Kristina goes to South Korea and I go to Shanghai.
