Who doesn’t like food?
Myanmar has a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities, so they also have a wide variety of foods. Of course, rice makes up the vast majority of the diet for most Burmese people.
Spicy soups are also common at meals. One of the foods that sounds the weirdest to me is fermented tea leaves which can be eaten by themselves for dessert or as a salad.
One of the main types of food is Burmese Curry. Of course we think of India when we hear curry, and India isn’t far away. Burmese Curry is a meaty curry that can contain a wide variety of different meats. Burmese curry is often served with a variety of side dishes including rice, vegetables, and dipping sauces.
Fried foods. Fried foods are common in Burma. A variety of spring rolls, breads, and sweets are fried. “One deep-fried dish particularly worth seeking out is buthi kyaw, battered and deep-fried chunks of gourd.”
Noodles. There are also a variety of noodles. There’s Nangyi thoke, which is a dry noodle. Mohinga is rice noodles with a fish broth. Shan style noodles are a “combination of thin, flat rice noodles in a clear, peppery broth with marinated chicken or pork.”
They also have a variety of sweets, but the sweets aren’t often based around sugar. Instead they are made of coconut, coconut milk, rice, and fruits.
