After meeting this week and getting our “swag” bags, it has become real for me when we go. I saw my Visa for Vietnam and chills began to travel up my spine. I have never been this far away from Springfield. I have never been in a different country without my family. After showing my Visa to my family, I could see the excitement and apprehension spread across their faces. I know my family is very excited for me to travel to a new and exotic place. However, I also understand why they are nervous for me to be in a communist country as well as half way across the world. While the world can sometimes seem like a small place, seeing familiar faces all over, it is also very vast, with different cultures and customs. With each new location I experience, I have to research and delve myself into their cultures, learning new things with each turn. I hope to fully involve myself into the cultures of the countries we travel.

I felt the same when I before I came to America. After the first year here, I learned that I was on my own but I was also a grown-up. I had the independent sense that my dad wanted me to have. I became more and more brave with things. I started loving adventures. Thus, I think traveling is the best thing that I had and will happen in my life. Just wait and see. 🙂
