Today was a fun day. We awoke early and set out for the Saigon Beer factory for a tour. It was a very hot day; the sweat started rolling in almost immediately. The factory was even hotter than outside, so it was one of the few times when going outside was more refreshing than being inside. We received free beers at the end of our tour, and the factory was very interesting and enjoyable.
From the factory, we visited a special needs home sponsored by Project Vietnam. Here, nuns and volunteers cared from mentally handicapped children that had been abandoned by their parents. This experience was incredibly humbling. It made me not only appreciate all I have back home, but also that me and my family members are in good health. We then had lunch at a street restaurant up the road. The food wasn’t particularly good, but I was more focused on the experience of the meal
We then departed to the Cu Chi tunnels. These are tunnels used by Vietcong members during the Vietnam war. The tunnels were very small and narrow, but I could maneuver through them without hassle. I loved this trip and got to shoot a M-30 machine gun as an added bonus. At the end of the day, I was absolutely dripping in sweat and was in much need of a shower and relaxing bed session. Tonight, we are celebrating 3 different birthdays and may hit the town one last time since we leave early in the morning tomorrow. I look forward to to fight and to Singapore tomorrow!
