Today was volcano day. I’ve never seen an active volcano from outside. (I guess Yellowstone doesn’t count because the whole national park was a volcano.)
We were supposed to go to see a local dance but we got on the bus late and missed the time for the dance. Thus, Ketut took us to see a batik workshop. It was interesting to see how they make those beautiful cloth and make clothes and art out of it.
Lunch was very nice. It was a buffet style and we were sitting on the edge of the hill right in front of the volcano. The food was also good while we were enjoying the amazing view of the volcano. Some of the tree were burned out after the last eruption in 1960s. Ketut couldn’t tell why those tree didn’t grow back yet, and maybe it was just a mystery.
After lunch we were always sleepy, and it was just the best time for a cup of coffee or tea. When we arrived at the coffee farm, it was still hot, but cool under those tree shadows. We walked through the trails and came to the Luwak coffee farm. Luwak is a kind of cat that eat raw coffee beans and digest just the outside of the coffee beans. People use those digested coffee beans (or poop) to make coffee. It’s extremely expensive sold in other places and other countries.
The day ended with a visit to the wood carving shop and a nice dinner. I’m excited for the next day because it will be the beach day.
