This morning started with landing in Bali and getting a stamp on my passport with my birthday! We arrived at our hotel and it was like a tropical paradise. Each room looked like its own cabana. I went to bed because we had an early call a few hrs away!
Woke up a couple hrs later and headed for breakfast where I was met by the hotel staff singing happy birthday and giving me a cake at 8am (worse things in life could happen!!). After sharing my cake with the table we were off to explore Bali for the first time.
Our guide, Ketut, took us to the Candi Kuning fruit market where I tired durian for the first time, and the last, and got to shop for some trinkets. We then went for lunch, where I fell in love with fried bananas and vanilla cream. After lunch we went to Beratran Lake and visited the Temple there.
Finally, our day ended at Tanah Lot, a temple on the Indian Ocean. I got to put my feet in the Indian Ocean for the first time, that makes 3 oceans I have been to, then I was blessed by a Hindu Monk, finally I was able to watch the sun set on my birthday surrounded by friends and family. I don’t think I could have turned 35 in a better place!
