When we arrive in Hanoi, we will stay overnight on junk. Actually, junk is a type of ancient Chinese sailing ship. It is still in use today. During Song dynasty, junk boats were used throughout Asia for extensive ocean voyages. Junk is one of the most efficient ship designs. In Chinese, junks also called “chuán” or “zhōu”. I am from China, but I take junk before. So I’m looking forward to that day.

I, too, am really looking forward to our cruise on a junk boat! I had never heard of one before, much less gotten a ride in one. I am jealous you’ve had experience with this before! I am excited for all of our trip, but I am really curious to see how my body reacts to being on the junk. I’ve never been on a cruise; some of my family gets seasick, and some don’t – so I guess it’s a toss up for me. However, I’m confident I can have a good time regardless, maybe with the help of medicine. As a plus, the name in the English language is funny. I laughed when I read “Stay on junk” in our itinerary, because I had no idea what it was talking about! 🙂
