Today we had to wake up very early as we needed to be on the bus by 6 am. We weren’t able to have a sit down breakfast, but the hotel restaurant had prepared a bag for each of us. The bag had two bananas, a mango juice box, a “butter” sandwich, and two hard-boiled eggs. I was quite hungry and ate most of the sandwich, three bananas (one from my roommate) and one of the eggs. After a thirty minute drive we arrived at the base camp. We had decided the previous night we would ride horses to the halfway point as it would be about five miles to the top. They gave us a horse/mule based on size and I managed to get a mule. The ride up was really fun and even got a little hairy and the trail runs very close to the edge of the cliff side. We arrived to the midpoint and after a bathroom break began the rigorous climb. The views were breathtaking and it was hard not to stop every minute to take a picture. I was a little ahead of the group and soon came upon another small group and tour guide who happened to be good friends with Kharma! I stayed with them until we reached the top and waited for everyone to arrive. The Tigers Nest was very beautiful the architecture was stunning. Also has a lot of history and importance for Buddhists. We soon had to make the trip down and I was again separated from the group and took some hidden shortcuts and reached the cafeteria (located at the midpoint) for lunch. We everyone finished we hiked the final half to the bus and went back to the hotel. Tomorrow was our last day in Bhutan but today was one of the best for the entire trip.
