Today is the last day of our program and we are exploring Vientiane. This morning we started with Buddha Park, they had statues signifying Buddhism and Hinduism religions. We were able to go inside the “Pumpkin” which was three floors representing hell, earth, and heaven, we were also allowed to stand on top of the structure to have a view of the entire park. We learned a lot about the Buddhist religion and the meanings of the different poses Buddha statues make. I found my new favorite ice cream shop called “Sweet Moo”, the ice cream was very satisfying! We went to the oldest building in Vientiane, they had Buddha statues from the 18th century that were broken from the various bombings, this temple stood for “The Temple of the Head”. The last temple of our trip was called Ho Phra Keo which stands for “House of the Emerald Buddha” and the statue has not been returned from Thailand. Our last stop before the airport was the Arc de Triomphe of Laos.
