Today is our last day in Laos and I am so sad to leave! We spent our last day visiting the Buddha Park, Temple of the Head, Emerald Temple, and the Arc de Triomphe. The Buddha Park was full of various Buddha status all in different positions resembling signs such as rain, stop, water, and many more. I learned the Buddha symbol for hoping for rain is the Buddha standing with his arms by his side. It was really neat learning about all the different Buddha symbols. The second site was Temple of the Head which is the oldest temple in Vientiane. Temple of the Head had thousands of Buddha statues all over the temple and museum. The Emerald Temple was one of my favorite temples because of the story associated with in. The Emerald Temple was built by the French for the Emerald Buddha but the Lao people didn’t like the French look of the temple so they destroyed it. The Lao people rebuilt the temple to return the Emerald Buddha to his home, however, Thailand refuses to return Buddha to Laos. Then we got to visit the Arc de Triomphe before leaving for the airport. I wish we could have climb the 300 stairs to the top but we will get to see the original Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
