I’m very excited about every day on this trip but I absolutely can not wait until the Outer Reef tour and presentation. On Friday, January 3 we get to take a boat ride to the Outer Reef in Cairn to go snorkeling/diving and learn from a marine biologist about the ocean and marine life. I’m usually very nervous to get in the ocean when I go to the beach because I’m afraid of what I can not see, however, this trip is all about trying new things. I am excited to go snorkeling and if I feel comfortable I might even pay extra to go diving. After researching diving at the Outer Reef most companies offer a safe introductory dive with no experience needed. With diving, you get up close with the reefs and fish rather than seeing them from floating on top of the water. I absolutely hope while snorkeling or diving that I get to see clownfish and sea turtles. This day we also get to eat Aussie BBQ which is a lot different than US BBQ. When thinking of BBQ I always think of pork, brisket, hamburgers, and hotdogs but in Australia, BBQ is a lot of lamb and sausage. I have never tried lamb but I am not a fan of sausage, I am willing to try new foods on this trip but I’m definitely worried I won’t like Aussie BBQ. This day will consist of a lot of new experiences for me.
