On January 7th we will be visiting Ballarat Wildlife Park which I’m very excited to see more wildlife and local animals. Ballarat Wildlife recently redeveloped the park for updates and new exhibits. One new exhibit that just opened up is the Little Penguins exhibit. The Little Penguins consist of the world’s smallest penguins and the only native penguins to Australia. The zoo is working to protect this species of penguins and educate people on threats to the penguins to save this species. I had no idea there were even penguins in Australia so I can’t wait to see these little guys. There are so many other unique animals at the zoo and some are animals I have never heard of. I’m excited to see the Short-Beaked Echidna, Tasmanian Tigers, and Spoted-tail Quoll. There are also tons of alligators in the zoo which absolutely terrifies me. I will definitely be staying far away from the alligators. At Ballarat Wildlife there are opportunities to hold native animals but it is more expensive than Featherdale National Wildlife Park. Overall I’m very excited to see unique animals on this trip.
