The entire culture of Australia is based on kindness and lifestyle. Today we were able to visit the ELGAS office where we learned the history of the company as well as the challenges they face when competing for market share. It was interesting to hear about ELGAS and their perspective on market share. Since ELGAS is in Australia they mainly focus on the Australian market and not necessarily the international marketing competitors. After the presentation we toured an ELGAS plant which had three huge round tanks on site. We learned that two of these tanks hold propane and one holds butane. When looking at these you can tell the outside of the tanks look very different. The two propane tanks had to have extra coating on them because they were not originally designed for propane. The butane one was fine how it was, for it was engineered to hold butane specifically. They also showed us the location where the gas comes in from the ground and where ELGAS mixes the scent into the gas! I thought the whole day was very neat and interesting. I’m so glad we had Geoff showing us around, he made the trip very enjoyable and I hope we are able to keep in touch!
