Today was our last full day in Melbourne before we leave Australia to head back to the States tomorrow. I’m actually really sad about it, especially since I was starting to love Melbourne even more. Geoff was an absolute awesome guide and gave us a tour and presentation of his company. From a science standpoint I thought this was a great experience to see the thought process of a business. My favorite part was going out to the site where the natural gas is held and transported. I learned that the pipelines they use are made of steel which causes microbes to grow. Mark (one of the main supervisors) told me that this is a problem and they work to resolve this by doing checks and using chemicals that are environmentally safe to remove them. I’ve had the best time in Australia but I am more than ready to see my family!
