Missouri State Theatre and Dance students had the opportunity on September 26, 2012 to have a Q&A session with graduate James Sheldon, who was very involved with the department during his time at the university. He discussed his journey from being the “sports guy” to becoming a dancer to his first performances in Damn Yankees at Missouri State (SMS at the time) to booking a West Side Story tour to finding his niche as an independent film maker. He gave advice to students such as “be able to adapt and adopt” and “to see everything [in which you participate at the university] as experience, not as success.” Currently residing in Los Angeles with his family, he has continued to dabble in the art forms and is now focusing a great deal on his independent filmmaking. His current project is a feature film called The Red, White & Blues of The Purple Dick Jones.
