Theatre and Dance's Spring Dance Concert, Shadows and Light on Friday, May 4, 2018. Jesse Scheve/Missouri State University

Fall Full of Dance.

September 5, 2018 by Theatre and Dance

Missouri State University’s Department of Theatre and dance is always up to something new and exciting. This semester is no exception! Normally, the Fall semester here at MSU is more focused on the T in T&D, but this semester is unique. This year, we will feature the traditional Fall Dance Concert, and two additional dance pieces on top of this. The exciting thing about all of these pieces is the fact that students are the ones spearheading the creation and choreography of these pieces. Tabula Rasa, and Studio Series will be focused on dance and movement this semester as well. These two organizations focus on allowing students to see what it takes to put on a full scale production. Students are responsible for the direction, choreography, lights, sound, and costume design. All of the dance shows that will be featured this semester have students involved in these aspects, and many more. This is an amazing opportunity to see what T&D students learn outside of their specific craft of performing.

The Fall Dance Concert:
Will feature dances choreographed by students in one of the dance courses at MSU. They will be working over the majority of the semester to produce this show, which will take place November 14th to 18th, with evening show every day, and additional matinees on Saturday and Sunday.

Tabula Rasa-: FORMS:
FORMS is a dance cabaret showcasing the talented students at Missouri State University. Be sure to attend for a free night of friends and creativity. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the Bits of Britain show. Come hungry, come happy, come dance. Will run September 22nd.

Studio Series- Hunak:
This is an evening length, qualitative research-based contemporary dance work that incorporates stories, cultural elements, music, and dance forms of peoples from the Middle East, specifically in the region of Israel/Palestine. Will run Monday, October 8th 7:30PM
Tuesday, October 9th 7:30PM. Click here for the Facebook event, and to reserve seats. This show is also free!

We hope to see you at one of these wonderful dance shows this semester. They are all truly unique, and will offer something that everyone will be able to enjoy. Follow Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance on Facebook, and stay up-to-date on the Fall Full of Dance.
