“His work constantly amazes me. Both in class and professionally, he’s probably the most detail-oriented person I know”
“He is so passionate about theatre and works so hard on costume designing productions.”
“Directors, teachers, and peers should and do look up to his work, and respect his dedication to his art.”
This week’s Student Spotlight is over the amazing and talented Kestrel Jurkiewicz-Miles!
Kestrel is a member of the junior class working to receive a B.F.A. in Design/Technology/Stage Management with an Emphasis in Costume Design and a minor in Computer Science. His work includes a variety of productions and technical positions from Costume Designer for Missouri State University’s Picnic, to Wardrobe for Heart of America Shakespeare Festival’s Hamlet, to Stitcher for Tent Theatre’s 2019 season. His skills are endless, and it would be a gross understatement to say his work is anything less than exceedingly spectacular or beyond expectation. It has been a privilege to have a student of his talent at our university.
Outside of his work, Kestrel is as spirited a friend as he is talented. When asked to describe him in a few words, his friends chose “optimistic,” “caring,” “responsible,” “passionate.” He is cared for deeply by those he holds close to him and is undoubtedly going to go far in any direction he chooses.
Congratulations Kestrel on all of your personal and academic successes. You have been this week’s Student Spotlight.
“Kestrel is caring, compassionate, and someone I’m glad to know and call friend.”
