The Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance is excited to tell the community about the ways that many of our programs are growing. If you keep up with our social medias, you’ve probably seen announcements about how five of our programs are welcoming new members into their ranks! Welcoming new students into the department is always exciting, and we decided to make an event of it! From Friday, April 23rd – Tuesday, April 28th, we rolled out announcements of new names and faces to learn in anticipation for the 2020 – 2021 school year.
First up, we announced the incoming BFA Acting students. These students are selected through and audition process, and are either current students of Missouri State University, or brand new Bears, who will be starting their college journey. We are eager to watch them grow, learn, and perform with each other at Missouri State University. Check out this image from Kurt Heinlein that shows the faces of the new Acting class.
Who was next? The BFA Technical program told us the names of their new Design, Technology, and Stage Management (DTSM) students. While our students selected for the DTSM program do not have to audition for the program, they do have to go through an interview process. We look forward to seeing their hard work over the coming years! See the graphic below featuring the names of our new DTSM T&D Bears.
We weren’t done yet! On Sunday, we welcomed even more T&D Bears into their new program. This time, it was about bears who aren’t afraid to strut their stuff! That’s right, the Dance program is expecting new students as well! Check out who’s going to be setting the barre next year in our Dance program below!
But wait, there was more! Next, we spread the word about the Musical Theatre class that will be joining the BFA Bears. This is another one of our auditioned programs, and we cannot wait to see them in action! The faces of these talented young Bears who will be a part of the T&D community are featured in the image below, courtesy of Heather Luellen.
And who rounded out this epic event? The BA/BS program was able to let us know some names we should learn for next year. This program is one that creates jacks of all trades, and often yields students who are skilled in many areas in and out of performance that will allow for them to go after jobs that are often hard to come by. Kyle A. Thomas shared the names of our new BA/BS Bears who are joining #MaroonNation come fall, check those out below!
See a familiar face? Feel free to share it with them! The Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance is so excited to be gaining new members. We cannot wait to see all that they will accomplish in the years to come. And for the new T&D Bears who will be joining us, welcome to #MaroonNation
