The Department of Theatre and Dance is excited to announce its three new and renovated studio spaces!
As the entire world of theatre and performance art has discovered in the past year, there may come a time when auditioning live in front of a casting director may not always be an option. It is becoming more and more essential in this technological age to have the tools and the skillset readily available to utilize the growing amount of virtual opportunities to their full potential. Luckily for all current and future Missouri State Bears, the staff and faculty here in the Department of Theatre and Dance are already ahead of the game! Available to all students are now a variety of new and exciting, fully-equipped and ready-to-use spaces for voice-over and on-camera needs. These studio spaces, combined with our always-progressing and evolving curriculum, are giving students the hands-on practice and experience they will need to land any audition coming their way.
The first, located in Missouri State University’s Art Annex 005A, is an all-access camera audition and self tape studio. This space includes a professional backdrop, studio lighting kit, phone and camera tripod, and new computer to save and edit all recordings.
- This studio is currently available to students in all programs and can be reserved by contacting the Department of Theatre and Dance’s Main Office.
Our other new spaces are both located directly off campus in the Credo Arts Center at 931 S. Kickapoo Avenue.
There is our new on-camera audition studio and camera classroom space that is fully equipped with all on-camera audition needs and has its own viewing and editing studio.
- This space is only utilized in on-camera classes and under direct faculty supervision. We are currently working on developing faculty supervised open studio hours.
We also have a new private voice-over studio. This studio is fully equipped with high-quality voice-over technology and editing software. It even includes a digital piano, lighting kit, and demo recordings for students’ vocal and musical auditions.
- This space is only utilized in on-camera classes and under direct faculty supervision. We are currently working on developing faculty supervised open studio hours.
These have already been an incredible addition to the department and are sure to make classes like THE 522 Auditioning and Acting for the Camera and this summer’s THE 497-897 An Introduction to V.O. Acting an even better practical and surreal experience.
