This week’s student spotlight is over the free-spirited and charismatic Will Mahler!
Will Mahler is a senior B.S. Theatre major with a minor in Screenwriting and a certificate in Documentary Filmmaking. Will is also credited as the secretary of the Missouri State Improv Team, co-host of The Wrap, and has appeared in student productions such as “Mostly Chaste,” “Pulling your Weight,” and “Football Play,” as well as writing and directing his own piece, “Churchman for Hire,” for Tabula Rasa’s Night of Original One Acts. Outside of his academic achievements, Will has an easy-to-love personality, always taking time to ensure the comfortability of others.
There are many ways to describe Will, but his peers do it best. One peer stated that Will “exudes golden retriever energy,” while another proposed he is like “a meerkat without any of the stress.”
When asked about working with Will, his peers had a lot to say about his charisma and collaboration. “He makes everyone in the room feel welcome,” one peer added, as well as stating that he is “patient and understanding” with everyone. Another peer asserted that “no matter what it is, Will is always there to be a supporting force. Will, without trying, brightens everyone’s day with his goofiness.” Will always has the needs of others in mind, and works hard to make those around him have a good time.
Will’s peers touched on the impact he has left on them, with all good things to say. One stated, “He has impacted my life by teaching me how to remain clam and go with the flow midst the chaos.” It seems Will has a good head on his shoulders, and is able to navigate obstacles in the best way possible. Another noted, “Will has been a role model of mine since I met him. I think he is so passionate in everything he does, and I try my best to emulate that.” What a great sentiment!
Congratulations, Will, on all of your academic and personal success. We can’t wait to see the hard work you put into the department this year.
