This week’s student spotlight is over the charming and diligent Charlie Foy!
Charlie Foy is a B.A. Theatre major with a minor in Screenwriting. Charlie is credited as the Vice President of the Missouri State Improv team, and works in the T&D Marketing Department. Charlie has also appeared in multiple productions on campus, including Tabula Rasa’s “Night of Original One Acts” in 2021 and 2022, as well as the Directing II One Acts in “Something Like Penguins,” and is a current cast member in our department’s upcoming production of Dreamland. Outside of his academic achievements, Charlie has an easy-to-love personality, and is a great leader and friend.
One of Charlie’s peers described him as “one of the most determined people I know.” Charlie is constantly involved in multiple creative projects, and is able to handle each of them with the utmost attentiveness. Charlie is never one to commit to something he cannot give 100% to. Another peer described Charlie as “capable and able to handle any situation with ease. He has a way of disarming those around him. He’s human Xanax.” In a similar sentiment, Charlie can be attributed as “so kind and warm to everyone; he has a way of making everyone in the room feel comfortable, welcome, and heard.”
Many of his peers have worked with Charlie on several creative projects. When asked about their time in collaboration with him, one peer stated that Charlie “is hilarious, and I always enjoy writing and performing with him, but he is also very methodical about his work.” Charlie has a strong grasp on many art forms, including improvisational comedy, writing, and the performance of scripted work. He is a jack of all trades in the theatrical department. Another peer described working with Charlie by saying, “He’s very professional and gets things done quick and fast. He’s also very easy to bit with and makes the creative process feel very collaborative.”
Outside of academic and creative work, Charlie has made a positive impact on many of those around him. One peer contended that “personally and creatively, he has pushed me to be better. Charlie’s ability to connect with others is something that is very impressive and admirable. I try to emulate that in my personal life and really show people that I care about them.” Charlie is a gift to those who have the pleasure of knowing him, and it clearly shows.
Congrats, Charlie, on all your academic and personal success. We can’t wait to see the hard work you put into the department this year.
