Yoga

Yin Fusion is a great class for all levels, especially beginners. The class will encompass a gentle deep stretch, followed by balance and strength building poses, ending with a supported restorative practice. Practice develops body awareness, strength, balance, flexibility, and focus.

Tai Chi

Yang Style is the second oldest recorded form of Tai Chi and the most popular worldwide, which is what we practice. Yang Style is characterized by a closely-knit series of relaxed and composed flowing movements that combine strength with resilience and vigor with gentleness. This class is appropriate for any age, any level of physical fitness and is a great place for someone who is just starting an exercise regime.

Vaccinations

COVID-19 Vaccination

Magers Family Health and Wellness Center is a registered COVID‑19 vaccination site. All Missouri residents ages 12 and up are eligible to receive the first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine is approved for ages 18 and up.

Flu Vaccination

The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year. The flu vaccine available at Magers Health and Wellness Center covers the four most common strains of the influenza virus. Beginning September 20, flu vaccinations can be received Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Cooking Class

“Healthy for the Holidays”

Impress your friends and family this holiday season by whipping up some tasty and healthy side dishes. In this Cooking Talks session, we will create several sides that pair nicely with traditional holiday favorites. You will also receive step-by-step guidance and tips for keeping nutritious meals alive and well during the holiday months. Best of all? We’ll have a chance to sample all that we make!

Ageless Grace

Ageless Grace is a cutting-edge brain fitness program based on neuroplasticity that involves all 5 areas of the brain – analytical, strategic, kinesthetic learning, memory/recall, creativity, and imagination – and simultaneously addresses all 21 physical skills needed for lifelong optimal function. This exercise program will help you to remain strong as you age, flexible to reach those high shelves and sharp for dealing with those youngsters around you.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Are you feeling overwhelmed? Stressed out? Dizzy with the distractions of the digital age? Enslaved by the tyranny of time and not enough hours in the day? Do you need to unplug and unwind? Do you need to be more creative and centered? Are you seeking serenity and peace of mind?

Learn how to disconnect from the world and control your own turbulent mind with this 4-part series. Led by Pat Campbell, M.Ed, you will learn two different styles of meditation throughout this series and be given a mindfulness practice to do each week. These techniques are universal and separate from any religion or sect.

Maroon Moves Walking Challenge

Are you looking for a way to start moving more? Do you need a little friendly competition to get you motivated? Get ready for Maroon Moves! Get a group of 4-8 colleagues together, come up with a creative team name, and compete against other teams at the university from October 1st – October 31st!

Wise and Well Health & Benefit Fair

PSU Grand Ballroom
October 13th, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The Wise and Well Health & Benefit Fair is an annual Fall event which brings together campus and community organizations whose focus is providing health and wellness services. Missouri State students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend, where they will learn more about their personal health and ways to stay well. 

Attend this free event for your chance to win prizes, receive free giveaways and learn more about the benefits available to you as an MSU employee.
 


Mental Health

Did you know anxiety is the most common mental health problem in the United States? Nearly 1 out of 5 persons can be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder each year.
