It feels like fall!!! Many alumni returned for homecoming. CNAS hosted a dinner for all emeritus faculty in the college on Thursday evening of homecoming week. Several program advisory boards meet on Friday and we also invite the advisory board members to join us for dinner. We had over 90 people attend the dinner. It was awesome and I am so encouraged by the support we have in this college from our emeritus faculty and our alumni. What an honor!!!
On Friday morning of homecoming week I had the honor to share with the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Governors a summary of all of the wonderful things that the faculty, staff and students of CNAS have accomplished recently or are working on currently. I will post this presentation on the website for your review as well. I only had a short period of time for my presentation so I couldn’t mention everything. I hope, however, that you will continue to forward me your student’s successes and your successes so that I can include them in this blog and on the CNAS website. The board members were impressed by your many accomplishments and I will continue to inform them of your work.
Tenure/promotion – We are on a brand new schedule and timeline for tenure/promotion and so I wanted to make sure that you had the deadlines in mind as you proceed through the process. All faculty applying for promotion and/or tenure have already turned in their portfolio’s to their department heads. By October 31 the department head should receive the committee’s signed report. The candidate receives the committee report from the head and has three business days to review, respond, sign and return to the department head. By November 21 the candidate is to receive the report from the department head and has three business days to review, respond, sign and return to the department head. The department head must submit the entire file to the college dean by November 25. By December 17 the dean is to send the completed tenure/promotion evaluation/assessment with recommendation and rationale to the candidate (copy to department head). The candidate, once again, has three days to review, respond, sign and return to the dean. By December 22 the entire tenure/promotion file is forwarded to the provost with recommendations. The provost intends to meet with all candidates immediately after the first of the year.
