As we faced some big budget cuts over the past several years – I decided that the college office could do without a full-time associate dean. Over the past four years we have worked to more clearly define the roles of the part time associate deans. The current part time associate deans receive a one course release along with a small stipend (and we still save money!) Each associate dean has a two year term and is renewable.
This year Xingping Sun’s term has ended and he has decided to go back to the mathematics department. I really appreciate Xingping’s work over the past several years on recruitment and retention. He has met with many, many students who come into the dean’s office – some with routine paperwork and others that require much more time. In addition, Xingping has helped to get our professional science master’s (PSM) program off the ground.
As we reflected on the goals of the college and university for the coming years – I would like to put some special emphasis on interdisciplinary research within the college for at least the next two years. So for the next two years there will be three part time associate deans with the duties as noted below –
Dan Beckman has agreed to take on the “research” job duties. The other two positions are posted – https://jobs.missouristate.edu/postings/19521 and https://jobs.missouristate.edu/postings/19520
Please nominate a colleague who you think might be a great addition to the dean’s office and is looking for a new challenge!
If you are looking for a new challenge and some administration experience – I encourage you to apply.
