Today was our third day here in Colorado, and I’m honestly so glad that I decided to apply to come on this trip. Today, the group that I was assigned to at Colorado Children’s Hospital got to host a craft party behind the elevators. Though I didn’t actively sit with some of the kiddos that were doing the crafts, I got to oversee how the others in my group interacted with the kids. They all seemed to bring such great smiles to their faces. There was a child who made a St. Patrick’s Day wreath, which was one of the crafts, and proceeded after it was finished to stick their face into it and make animal noises. It was the cutest thing to see, and it really made me smile since that child might have had a bad day and they got to have some sort of fun while they were there.
After the hospital, we immediately went to Red Rocks Amphitheater… For a music junkie like myself who thrives on seeing historic music venues, this checked off one of the top things on my bucket list. Though I wasn’t able to stand on the stage due to it being closed off, I still got to see some of the phenomenal sights that exists only at that amphitheater. Just sitting back imagining the numerous artists that have taken that stage and performed numerous sold out shows at this venue, it made my heart warm since I know that feeling of being at a concert of someone that you love. It’s one of those feelings that you only experience when you’re at a concert. The sights were incredible, and the view from the top of the seats took my breath away. It’s a venue where I wouldn’t mind getting really cheap and crappy seats because ethe sights that you see really make for an amazing experience. The stairs sucked, but it was SO worth being in pain to see something that I probably will never see again in my lifetime.
This is the view from behind the amphitheater… absolutely gorgeous.
This is from the top of the seating area in the amphitheater…
After the entire day was through, we decided to go to a movie, and we saw Get Out, which I highly suggest watching. As I sit here and type this, I’m replaying today, since I never thought in a million years that I would be on a spring break trip to Colorado with a group of college kids that I had just met, yet have become close to. Working/playing with the children in the hospital makes me that much more appreciative of what the nurses and volunteers do at these hospitals and it makes me that much more excited to get a job in the field of pediatric nursing in the future.
