Times: 8:00 a.m. Breakfast and Networking; 9:00 a.m. Faculty Presentations; 12:00 Lunch and Keynote Speaker
Location: PSU Ballroom and 3rd Floor conference rooms
Dr. Ken Bain, best-selling author of “What the Best College Teachers Do” (2004) and “What the Best College Students Do” (2012) will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Showcase on Teaching and Learning. Dr. Bain will lead us in a conversation to contrast traditional views of learning with deep learning.
We will address questions such as:
- How can we encourage sufficient levels of motivation and diligence in students who often struggle academically?
- How can we help high-achieving students aspire to deep learning rather than simply receiving good grades?
- How can we encourage strong problem solving and high degrees of creativity and compassion, attributes that are central to our public affairs mission?
A lunch buffet will be provided including a vegetarian entrée. Plan to join us for good food and good conversation with Dr. Bain on student learning at MSU.
The complete Showcase schedule and session descriptions can be viewed at the 28th Showcase on Teaching and Learning website.
