Senior, Media Promotion for Non Profit Organizations
Austin Elliott’s individualized major in Media Promotion for Non Profit Organizations – as well as his passion for the work – has resulted in a unique student experience for the MSU senior. Austin’s ultimate career goal is to help nonprofit organizations improve their media presence by utilizing his video, web, and photography skills, and his pursuit of this goal has already taken him around the world.
Over the summer Austin spent time in Kampala, Uganda, acting as photographer, videographer, and web designer for an organization that improves the lives of boys living in the slums there. He is currently working as an intern in the communications department of local nonprofit Convoy of Hope, and was able to travel with them to Haiti. Austin also recently assisted the office of Public Affairs Support with media work for the Stomp Out Hunger All-Collegiate Shoe Drive! Austin’s work has further been recognized in a story that was printed in the Springfield News-Leader.
When asked what drew him to this particular career, Austin responded, “Overall I enjoy helping people and putting myself last. I really enjoy sharing stories that would normally not get shared, and showing the hope and joy that can come out of the most broken of situations.” We are pleased to recognize Austin Elliott as the November Public Affairs Student Spotlight and a wonderful example of what living Missouri State’s public affairs mission is all about!
