I recalled the famous show “No Reservations – Parts Unknown” documented and presented by Chef Tony in 2013, aired on Discovery and TLC (Travel & Living Channel) .
You can search and pick bunch of Vietnamese foods to try during the trip in Vietnam. For me, I would love to stick with what I have been eating since I was born. The list of breakfast restaurants I would definitely stop by:
- Vietnamese baguette stuffed with pâté, meat, jambon, sautéed onions at Bánh Mì Hòa Mã (located in busy Cao Thang street, very close to my house and has been operating since 1960
2. Vietnamese broken rice dishes (Cơm Tấm) in an alley on Nguyen Trai Street, District 1
3. Vietnamese thick iced coffee (cafe sữa đá)
4. Vietnamese seawater snails & shells (Ốc), a typical seafood and a major part of the Vietnamese culture of Saigon. very diverse method of cooking from grilled, sautéed, coated in salt and chili, steamed, curried, and so on
5. Hủ tiếu Nam Vang – a Cambodian and Chinese pork based noodle soup, that contains slices of all sorts of organs, and a shrimp or few, plus an assortment of other additions, combined with that huge fresh plate of herbs and vegetables that it’s always served with.
6. Bún bò Huế – beef based, and in Vietnam it’s known for being spicy and flavorful. The broth, which if made to specification, should be full of beef bone flavor, and fragrant with lemongrass, has a wonderful taste, like a citrusy beef soup.
7. Bánh Xèo – sort of like crepe, Vietnamese banh xeo is a crispy savory snack, fried in a lot of oil, then combined with your choice of ingredients, often including slices of pork belly, shrimp, and onions, then folded over with a handful of lightly cooked bean sprouts in the middle.

Thank you for the post Bao! Some of those dishes sound really good! I’m hoping you will be able to take us to some places that are your favorite, so we can experience what you grew up eating.
