Theravada Buddhism is the major religion of 70.5% of the population of Sri Lanka. The island has been a center of Buddhist scholarship and learning since the introduction of Buddhism in the third century BCE producing eminent scholars. Our group visited historical palace in Kandy, central of Sri Lanka named Temple of the Tooth last night and the Dambulla Cave Golden Temple today afternoon in Habara, these places are very magnificent and holistic.
Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. This temple complex dates back to the first century BCE. It has five caves under a vast overhanging rock, carved with a drip line to keep the interiors dry and avoid wearing out. There are images of the Lord Buddha and bodhisattavs, as well as various Buddhism gods and goddesses.
Sri Lanka Lily flowers are typical flowers in the country, It is commonly cultivated as an ornamental plant of domestic gardens. In Sri Lanka, (Nil Manel) Water Lily is most popular for various activities especially for the Buddhists worship.
