Deborah Luster, noted photographer, will present a public lecture about her creative work at the Springfield Art Museum auditorium at 6 pm on Tuesday, April 3.
The image that accompanies this release is from Luster’s series: Tooth for an Eye: A Chorography of Violence in Orleans Parish. The circle of the lens that masks these images relates to the scope of a gun as it documents historic homicide sites, exploring themes of loss and remembrance. While Luster’s work takes on a range of subjects, it is always intimate and deeply personal and simultaneously detached and inviting scrutiny.
