FOOTB-ALL MIX: POSTERS FOR A PASSIONATE GAME is the title of the exhibition on view in the Brick City Gallery this summer, June 1-August 10.
Using the worldwide love for soccer, referred to as “football” in most other parts of the globe, this exhibit represents a collaboration between Missouri State University design students and 32 internationally renowned designers.
The 2018 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup Series is taking place this summer (June 14 – July 15) in Russia. To celebrate, 32 top graphic designers – one from each of the 32 countries with soccer teams participating in the series, were invited to create an original poster expressing their passion for the game. This collection of 32 posters will be presented at many venues around the world, designers Felipe Taborda (Brazil) and Susana Machicao (Bolivia) are the organizers.
MSU Department of Art and Design will be presenting these posters alongside 23 posters designed by students of two sections of a DES 332 Image Design class under Professor Cedomir Kostovic’s guidance. Students were challenged to create image-based concepts to communicate in diverse cultural environments. It also was an opportunity for students to compare their design skills not only with their peers, but also with international professionals.
The exhibition will be open for First Friday Art Walk events during the summer, June 1, July 6 and August 3 – 6-10 pm. The Brick City Gallery is located within the Brick City complex, 215 W. Mill Street, Springfield, Missouri. Other than these special receptions, Brick City Gallery is open by appointment only during the summer session.
