Professor Steve Willis is known for going great distances for a good time. At this moment he’s at the Cape of Good Hope leading a 16-day Study Away trip to South Africa.
Graduate and undergraduate students are gaining credit for ART 698: Seminar in Art Education, Topic: Art and Culture of South Africa or EDC 345: Introduction to Multicultural Education and Diversity. The course is designed for students to develop curriculum from first-hand experiences gained in various locations in South Africa. Students will investigate the social, historical, pedagogical, philosophical, and evaluative topics germane to teaching South African cultural contextualization.
Being an effective educator in a global society requires the development of skills, knowledge, and dispositions related to teaching and learning in varied settings with diverse learners. This experience is designed to provide a foundation of first-hand knowledge and pragmatic skills to enhance pedagogy.
