Starting this semester, the Counseling Center is partnering with the Art + Design Department to offer a series of lunchtime seminars for building skills centered around emotional health and wellness. These meetings are open to all Art + Design students and are being held at Brick City.
Based on a survey of topics sent to students to rank in order of importance, the schedule is as follows:
+ Time management – September 12
+ Making connections and managing conflicts – September 19
+ Managing stress – October 3
+ Sleep hygiene – October 17
+ Help for depression and anxiety – October 24
+ Balancing after emotional upsets – October 31
+ Understanding self / others in romantic relationships – November 7
+ Dealing with self-worth issues – November 14
+ Managing stress (related to end-of-term/final exam period) – November 28
All sessions will take place from 12:15-1:15 in Brick City, Building 1 – room 300.
Tammy Dixon, a licensed professional counselor from the Missouri State University Counseling Center, will be leading these along with Caleb Hatz, a graduate student in the Counseling program.
Students are welcome to drop in, try one, try them all. They are also welcome to bring their lunches.
