The Brick City Gallery reopens for the Spring 2022 semester with an exhibition celebrating the work of the Art + Design Department’s foundations classes. Students are required to take a set of beginning-level courses to begin their studies in any Art + Design major, minor, or emphasis. The Annual Foundations Exhibition features class assignments completed from Art 100: 2D Design, Art 101: 3D Design, Art 115: Drawing 1, and Art 110: Introduction to New Media. The exhibition is on view January 24–February 12.
Instructors from each course select the strongest works by their students to represent each class. The artworks featured in the exhibition come from a range of mediums and project themes. The diverse nature of the art on display further emphasizes the talents and strengths of students in every class. The following students have work on display:

This semester’s installment of the Annual Foundations Exhibition will mark the first time this show will display in Brick City Gallery, rather than the former Student Exhibition Center that housed the exhibition in years past. With most foundations classes taking place right upstairs from the gallery, this change of venue will make it even easier for Art + Design students to view work by their peers or see their own work on display.
Brick City Gallery is located at 215 W. Mill Street, Springfield, MO 65806. The galleries can be visited Monday–Friday 11 AM–6 PM and Saturday 12 PM–4 PM. Call 417-837-2330 for additional details. Please wear a mask and practice safe distancing when visiting the gallery.
