Join the Art + Design Department for the first visiting artist event of the Spring 2022 semester—Bede Clarke, Painted Pot: Line, Color, Imagery. The event takes place February 7 at 4 PM in Brick City Building 1, room 312. Attendees can also participate virtually via Zoom.

Bede Clarke is an artist and ceramicist with work displayed on both a local and global scale. He has been a professor of art at the University of Missouri since 1992, but continues in his own practice by blurring the line between ceramics and the other foundational elements of art. A quote from Bede’s website states, “People often comment about the range of my work and I guess I have always cast a pretty wide net in terms of my exploration of clay. Pots and the vessel have held the center but there has been a strong overlay of interest in drawing, color and leaving a trace of the hand.”
Brick City Building 1 is located at 327 W. Mill Street, Springfield, MO 65806. For questions about the event, call the Department of Art and Design office, 417-837-2330. Face masks are required inside all academic buildings at Missouri State University.
Taylor Ladd is a graduate assistant for the Department of Art + Design. She is working towards her master’s degree in writing at Missouri State University with professional interests in writing about art, culture, and food.
