This contest does not involve counting live fish, but fish appearing in the paintings, drawings and prints by Judith Fowler, Professor Emerita, on view in Brick City Gallery this summer. Her work has wide appeal with layers of colorful and fantastical imagery that will make counting fish a highly concentrated effort!

Art and Design Department administrative assistants, Cheryl Price and Rae Ann Rockwell, have developed a scavenger-hunt-style contest based on the artwork on display. Answer their question “how many fish can be seen in the exhibition” correctly and you’ll have a chance to win one of two $100 gift cards from the MSU Bookstore. If more than two people answer the question correctly, the winners will be selected by random drawing. MSU Staff are asked to fill out entry forms and leave them in the gallery collection box – limit 2 entries per employee.
We hope you join us for the fun and learn more about our gallery and Brick City! If your break is not long enough, ask your supervisor whether they support your spending 30-60 minutes at the gallery learning more about the university.
The contest ends at 9 pm, August 5. Winners will be announced Friday, August 12.
The gallery is open from 8-5, Monday through Friday, through August 5, 2022 and during First Friday Art Walk August 5 from 6—9 pm. The campus shuttle stops in front of the gallery at 215 West Mill Street. Parking is available across the street in MSU rainbow lot 46. To access the building, use your cell phone to call the office or come to the office in Brick 1 first. If you have questions, call the Art and Design Department at 417-837-2330 or email ArtandDesign@missouristate.edu . Check out all the campus galleries: https://galleries.missouristate.edu/.
