Artist Anna Valdez was originally scheduled to kick off the semester’s Visiting Artist and Designers Series with a public lecture, “Through Observation,” and after initially being postponed, the event has been rescheduled for next semester. Her visit will take place March 22, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in Brick City Building 1, room 312.

“Through Observation” will cover Anna’s work and artistic practice, which creates a sense of “epic tableaux” through lively colors and patterns that lend her still life scenes and landscapes a fictional twist. Her multidisciplinary practice includes painting, ceramic work, and murals.
Anna lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She earned an MFA in painting from Boston University in 2013 and a BA in anthropology and art from University of California, Davis in 2009. Galleries and exhibitions across the United States and Canada have featured Anna’s work, including: Crystal Bridges Museum, Hashimoto Contemporary in both New York and San Francisco, Parts Gallery Toronto, New Britain Museum of American Art, and North Carolina Museum of Art.
