A fresh group of artists share their stories, lessons, and advice for the Spring 2023 Visiting Artists, Designers, and Scholars Series. This semester, all visiting artist talks will take place at the Jay Wassen Idea Loft inside Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, located only two block from Brick City at 405 N. Jefferson Avenue. The events are free and open to the public.

Anna Valdez, “Through Observation”
March 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Rescheduled from last semester, “Through Observation” will cover Anna’s work and artistic practice, which creates a sense of “epic tableaux” through lively colors and patterns that lend a fictional twist to her still life scenes and landscapes. Her multidisciplinary practice includes painting, ceramic work, and murals.
Monika Weiss
April 3 at 5:30 p.m.
Monika Weiss is a Polish-American artist trained as both a pianist and visual artist. Working with the rituals of lamentation as a central theme of her work, Monika’s artistic practice includes video and self-composed sound, performance, drawing, and public projects.
